Clubber Lang’s prediction for the Carolina Panthers’ backfield in Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings? Artis-Payne.

Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said that Cameron Artis-Payne will be the team’s starting running back on Sunday, per Steve Reed of the Associated Press. Rivera did also say though that he expects an even split of touches between Artis-Payne and Fozzy Whitaker.

Ron Rivera said that Cameron Artis-Payne will start, he expects carries to be pretty equal to become him and Fozzy Whittaker.

Artis-Payne was inactive for both of Carolina’s first two games of the season and got just 45 carries for 183 yards and one touchdown in 2015. But opportunity knocks with Jonathan Stewart ruled out for Sunday with a hamstring injury. Still, yards on the ground could be hard to come by for the Panthers against a Minnesota defense that, per ESPN, has given up the sixth-fewest rushing yards in the league so far this year.
