Russell Wilson and Pete Carroll have had their differences in the past, but the former Seattle Seahawks quarterback showed nothing but respect to his former coach after the announcement that Carroll would be leaving his role.
Wilson shared a message on X reacting to Carroll’s unexpected departure as Seattle’s coach. The current Denver Broncos quarterback called Carroll “one of the greatest ever” while adding that the “best is ahead.”
One of the Greatest Ever.
“Keep Shooting” Coach.
Grateful for the memories. @PeteCarrollBest is Ahead. https://t.co/ct3W4IYIyf

Carroll and Wilson had immense success together, including a Super Bowl win in 2013. Their relationship seemed to sour some both prior to and after the Seahawks traded Wilson to Denver following the 2021 season, but at least publicly, Wilson is not holding any grudges.
Interestingly, both Carroll and Wilson now find themselves facing uncertain futures. Despite his departure from Seattle, Carroll on Wednesday strongly suggested that he would prefer to keep coaching. Wilson, meanwhile, certainly appears to have played his final snap as a member of the Broncos.
