The running back position has already been an adventure for the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, and we can add another well-known name to the list — Ryan Mathews.
According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, Mathews was in Philly for a visit on Wednesday and was expected to sign with the team. Then again, we heard similar information about Frank Gore signing with the Eagles and we all saw how that turned out.
If he can stay healthy, Mathews would seemingly be a good fit for Chip Kelly’s offense. He has rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of the two seasons where he played in 14 or more games. Mathews can run north to south and also catch passes coming out of the backfield.
Kelly and the Eagles can only hope LeSean McCoy doesn’t get in Mathews’ ear the same way he did with Gore. The Eagles have not exactly had a great offseason to this point.
