The Seattle Seahawks acquired Drew Lock when they traded Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos last week, but it is unclear if they view the former Missouri star as their starter. If that is the plan, DK Metcalf seems fine with it.
Metcalf took to Twitter on Thursday with a show of support for his new teammate. He told people to “chill on the Drew Lock slander.”

It’s unclear to what exactly Metcalf was referring, but the tweet is noteworthy. No one would blame Metcalf if he were frustrated that his team just traded a star quarterback with no clear succession plan in place. Metcalf seems optimistic about what Lock has to offer, though, at least for now.
Lock’s numbers in three seasons with the Broncos were not great. He posted a passer rating of just 79.3 and threw 25 touchdowns compared to 20 interceptions. Ball security was a big issue for him, but the Seahawks would not ask him to do much if he is named their starter. Heck, there were times when Wilson wasn’t asked to do much, which is one of the things that frustrated him about his time in Seattle.
There has been talk of the Seahawks eyeing trades for well-known veteran QBs, but perhaps they have faith in Lock.
