Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton does not want to see one of his coveted assistants leave for a division rival.
Broncos quarterbacks coach Davis Webb is a candidate for the Las Vegas Raiders head coach job, where he would have to face his former boss and the Broncos twice a year. Payton jokingly cautioned Webb against making such a move during his press conference on Tuesday.
“Well, it would be a pain in the a– for him,” Payton said.

Webb certainly has the look of a rising star in NFL coaching circles. Though he is only 31 and has never been a coordinator, he has been looked at by multiple teams as a legitimate head coaching candidate. While he may be destined for bigger and better things, Payton would want to hold on to him for as long as possible.
The Raiders had actually won eight straight meetings against Denver up until last season, with the Broncos now winning four straight. Payton would love to keep that rivalry right where it is at the moment.
