Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski is holding himself responsible for New England’s AFC Championship game loss.
Gostkowski, who owns the NFL record for consecutive made extra points, missed the PAT after New England’s first touchdown late in the first quarter. It turned out to be a big factor when, after scoring a touchdown with twelve seconds left, New England required a two point conversion to tie the game instead of a single extra point. Gostkowski knew it, too.
Gostkowski: "I feel like I lost the game. I feel sorry for myself, but I don't expect people to feel sorry for me."

We’re assuming that the rest of the game goes exactly the same way even if he makes the extra point, which we can’t do. The fact is, New England struggled to move the ball against Denver’s defense all day, and Tom Brady was under near-constant pressure from the Bronco front seven. It’s not as if Gostkowski pulled a Blair Walsh or anything like that.
