Stephen Jones calls Dak Prescott contract the ‘elephant in the room’
The Dallas Cowboys have been in contract negotiations with their franchise quarterback for a year, and the matter still is not resolved. Stephen Jones is acutely aware of that.
Jones spoke with the Dallas Morning News’ David Moore about the Dak Prescott contract situation and how it is weighing on the Cowboys.
“Dak, obviously, is the elephant in the room,” Jones said. “Everyone knows it. We’ve just got to keep grinding.”
The Cowboys were unable to reach an agreement with Prescott last year. The 26-year-old quarterback went out and passed for a career-high 4,902 yards and 30 touchdowns, enhancing his leverage in contract talks.
This year, Dallas gave Prescott a franchise tag and has two months to reach a long-term agreement with him. A recent report said the issue between the two sides has to do with the length of the contract between four and five years.
In the meantime, the Cowboys have enhanced Prescott’s weapons by drafting CeeDee Lamb while re-signing Amari Cooper. They should be in for another big offensive season.
