Steve Smith flagged after headbutting Vontaze Burfict (Video)
Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict and Baltimore Ravens receiver Steve Smith Sr. got into it on Sunday, and Smith came out of it with all the punishment.
Smith and Burfict got tangled up, and the Bengals linebacker – no stranger to controversy – went in for an extra shove on the veteran Smith. The Ravens’ receiver didn’t like that and delivered a Zinedine Zidane-style headbutt to Burfict, who went down pretty easily.
It was Smith who received the 15-yard penalty on the play.
Reminder: Smith does not like being disrespected. He likely took Burfict’s actions as such and responded. Burfict is volatile himself, so this combination was always likely to spark something.
