Kevin Byard is getting paid.
The Tennessee Titans and Byard agreed to a five-year, $70.5 million deal on Wednesday, making him the highest-paid safety in the NFL. The deal calls for $31 million in guarantees, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Byard, a third-round pick by the Titans in 2016, has emerged as one of the best defensive backs in football. He had 90 tackles, two sacks and four interceptions last season. The year before he had 87 tackles, eight interceptions and 16 passes defended.
Byard was set to make just under $900,000 in the upcoming season and was highly underpaid until getting the new deal. Maybe now Deion Sanders will know who he is.
