Todd Bowles on Wednesday refuted a report that said he was taking over some defensive playcalls for the New York Jets.
The New York Daily News’ Manish Mehta reported on Tuesday that Bowles would be taking over playcalls in certain situations.
From Mehta:
“The Daily News has learned that Todd Bowles will take back some of the play-calling duties from defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers. Specifically, Bowles will call the defensive plays in two-minute/hurry-up situations, according to sources.”
Bowles was asked about the report while speaking with the media on Wednesday. He was adamant that the report was inaccurate.
"It never came out of my mouth, and it never happened. End of discussion."

“100 percent false. Completely a lie. I have no idea where it came from. I haven’t done any of it. It didn’t happen, it hasn’t happened. It never happened. It’s not gonna happen,” Bowles said.
The report alleged that the move was made by Bowles in response to Baker Mayfield moving the ball on the Jets’ defense easily during the two-minute drill. The Jets blew a 14-3 lead on the Cleveland Browns in Week 2 and lost 21-17.
The 1-2 Jets have a tough Week 4 game ahead against the Jaguars in Jacksonville.
