Is Todd Gurley still a star running back? He certainly hasn’t lost any faith in himself.
The two-time All-Pro has seen his stock drop significantly in the past year or so amid growing concerns about the health of his knee. In 2019, he rushed for 857 yards on the season, the worst mark of his career. Gurley himself has no worries about his continued effectiveness after joining the Atlanta Falcons.
“I know I’m still that guy,” Gurley said, via Will McFadden of the team’s official website. “I’ve been doing this my whole life. It’s just football.”
Part of the issue is the knee, which is reportedly still in bad shape. That more than anything else may prevent Gurley from being the star back he once was. He’s not lacking in confidence, though, and his hope will be a return to excellence in Atlanta.
