Tom Brady jersey stolen from Patriots Hall of Fame; suspect arrested

Tom Brady

A sticky-handed thief thought he could cleverly steal a game-worn Tom Brady jersey from the New England Patriots Hall of Fame, but he made it no further than the Gillette Stadium parking lot.

33-year-old Zanini Cineus of Providence reportedly yanked the Brady jersey off a display and attempted to flee the area before being caught in the plaza parking lot with jersey on under his hoodie. He was immediately placed under arrested by Foxboro Police, who told CBS Boston that the suspect had stolen other memorabilia as well.

Cineus was charged with larceny for stealing the jersey, which is valued at $10,000, and released on his own recognizance after pleading not guilty in Wrentham District Court.

This isn’t the first time a Brady jersey has been stolen, either. Following Super Bowl LI, Mauricio Ortega, who was there as member of the Mexican media, was arrested for stealing Brady’s game-worn jersey and was later discovered to be in possession of Brady’s Super Bowl XLIX jersey and Von Miller’s Super Bowl 50 helmet.

Unlike Ortega, who held onto his stolen memorabilia for a little while, Cineus lasted just a matter of minutes before being busted.

The lesson? Crime does not pay, kids.
