Tom Brady sends Patriots fans into panic with Instagram post

Tom Brady

A seemingly innocuous Instagram post by Tom Brady on Tuesday may have inadvertently sent New England Patriots fans into a panic.

Brady posted photos of himself taken at the team’s first day of mandatory minicamp Tuesday.

His caption is what stood out: “Treat my first like my last, and my last like my first!”

The quote in the caption comes from Jay-Z’s song “My 1st Song” off the rapper’s 2003 “The Black Album.” It’s a reference to Brady’s work ethic and how he’s still working hard even after two decades in the league. At the same time, when Brady references his “last” anything, fans will naturally panic about him potentially retiring. The subject of his potential retirement is even in the minds of free agents.

Brady turns 42 in August and cannot play forever, though he has long stated his intention to play well through his 40s. Brady has to know a post like this will give fans reasons to wonder whether this will be his last season.
