Tom Coughlin took the podium for an emotional farewell press conference Tuesday morning, and some of his comments made it quite clear that he was forced out by the New York Giants and did not resign. Did his interaction — or lack thereof — with team owner John Mara also send a message?
After Coughlin was done fielding questions from reporters, he walked by Mara. Let’s just say the 69-year-old coach seemed to make an effort to ignore his former boss.

Perhaps Coughlin was just in a hurry to get out of there, but that certainly looked deliberate.
The interesting thing is that Mara left open the possibility of Coughlin remaining with the team in some sort of front office role. If that icy exchange was a whole lot of nothing, we can see that happening. If it was indicative of how Coughlin feels about Mara, there’s no chance.
