Tommy Rees reportedly lands NFL job after leaving Alabama
Former Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees is headed to the NFL.
Rees is expected to join the Cleveland Browns’ staff as a tight end coach, according to Zac Jackson of The Athletic. Rees is also expected to be involved in developing the team’s passing game.
Sources: The Browns are working to hire Tommy Rees as tight ends coach, and he’ll have a role in the overall development of the pass game. His exact title is uncertain and the hire is not yet official.
Rees, 31, was Alabama offensive coordinator last season.

Rees spent one season as Alabama’s offensive coordinator under Nick Saban. New coach Kalen DeBoer did not retain Rees after Saban decided to retire.
It is no surprise that Rees was not unemployed for long. He previously served as Notre Dame’s offensive coordinator and has a good reputation around the sport. This will be his second NFL job, as he spent 2016 as an offensive assistant for the San Diego Chargers.
The Browns made the playoffs on the strength of their defense in 2023, as Joe Flacco wound up being their most effective quarterback. Rees will be tasked with getting the most out of Deshaun Watson going forward.
