Running back Travis Etienne shared unfiltered advice for quarterback Trevor Lawrence following the Jacksonville Jaguars’ early exit from the 2025 NFL playoffs.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Etienne was asked what he thinks Lawrence has to do to build on the quarterback’s strong 2025 campaign.
“I would say the biggest thing for him is just let his nuts hang,” Etienne said on Monday, drawing guffaws from the reporters around him, via Demetrius Harvey of the Jaguars’ official website.
“Just be cocky, stop caring what people think,” Etienne added. “Just don’t give a damn, you’re the man. Just go out there, be yourself, make plays and just play fearlessly with reckless abandon.”
Behind Lawrence’s surge in the second half of the season, the Jags finished the campaign on a torrid run, winning eight consecutive games to close out their schedule. During that stretch, Lawrence passed for 2,009 yards and 19 touchdowns against 5 interceptions, while rushing for 5 touchdowns.
Etienne surely can be that candid when talking about Etienne. He’s known Lawrence for a long time, as the two have been teammates since their college football days with the Clemson Tigers.
Under first-year head coach Liam Coen, Lawrence and the Jaguars put together a season the franchise could be proud of, despite falling to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card Round.
Jacksonville won the AFC South for the first time since 2022, finishing 13-4 in the regular season and coming just one win short of tying the franchise record of 14 wins set in 1999.
