Fans were buzzing about play Travis Hunter made at practice

Travis Hunter wants to play offense and defense with the Jacksonville Jaguars like he did at Colorado, and the Heisman Trophy winner has done a great job of stating his case during the early portion of the offseason.

Hunter had fans buzzing with an outstanding defensive play he made on Tuesday. The rookie was covering a receiver on a deep route and went full extension to get his hand on what looked like a well-thrown ball.

A pass breakup would have been impressive enough, but Hunter showed that he is built differently. The No. 2 overall pick somehow managed to come down with the interception.

Plays like that are the reason more NFL teams reportedly viewed Hunter as a cornerback ahead of the draft. The Jaguars have said they are willing to let Hunter play both ways, but it seems like defense will be his focus.

Some other clips this offseason have raised concern about whether Hunter can keep up at the wide receiver position, but it would be unwise to doubt him.

Hunter had 96 catches for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns at Colorado last season. He had 35 total tackles, 4 interceptions and a forced fumble defensively. He may not play both offense and defense full time, but it would be a surprise if the Jaguars don’t make at least a package of plays for him on either side of the ball.
