Report: Trent Richardson dealing with ‘legit family issue’

Indianapolis Colts running back Trent Richardson will not play in the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots on Sunday, as he reportedly missed a walkthrough on Saturday and did not travel to Foxboro with the team. Richardson may have a very good reason for his absence.

Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star reports that Richardson is dealing with a “legit family issue.” While some have speculated that Richardson skipped practice because he is unhappy with his situation, Holder seems confident that was not the case.

Richardson has obviously been a total bust with the Colts and was likely to be a healthy scratch for Sunday’s game anyway, but we wish him the best with whatever family situation he has going on. Browns legend Jim Brown may have been spot on with his assessment of Richardson’s talent, but we should withhold judgment until we know exactly what is going on.
