Troy Aikman remains a consultant for the Miami Dolphins while also serving as a “Monday Night Football” analyst. Some would call that a conflict of interest, but Aikman does not because he doesn’t expect the Dolphins to be any good.
Aikman made the rather blunt remarks on the “Dallas Dialogue With Dave” podcast and once again addressed his work with Miami. As far as he is concerned, there cannot be a conflict of interest, because the Dolphins will not be good enough to get a “MNF” game this year.
“The Dolphins are not expected to be very good this year. They’re getting out of cap hell, so there’s no Monday night game with the Dolphins this year,” Aikman said, via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.
No, the Dolphins are not expected to be contenders in 2026. They are, as Aikman said, paying a lot of money for players who will not be on their roster. Still, to hear Aikman outright admit it is pretty brutal.
Aikman has been open about his work with the Dolphins, and clearly neither ESPN nor the NFL have any issue with it. How involved he actually is, however, seems to be a matter of dispute depending on who you ask.
