Tucker Kraft had a message for Green Bay Packers fans who did not have the team’s back Thursday night against the Atlanta Falcons.
The Packers got blown out by the Falcons 35-14 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. The road team won by three touchdowns, but the contest did not even feel as close as the score suggested.
Packers fans showered their team with boos as the players exchanged handshakes after the final whistle. The boo birds started coming out at halftime when the team trailed 17-7 and grew even louder as the resulte became even more lopsided.
Kraft did not appreciate what he heard from his home fans.
“That’s pretty tough,” Kraft said of the boos while speaking to reporters after the game. “Like everyone pictures Lambeau Field and not boos. I don’t picture boos. I picture my home stadium. That’s tough. It’s pretty disappointing, especially for a home opener. It’s pretty disappointing. It’s not going to help us win. Like I don’t know what people think that’s going to rally us or something like that. But that’s — we’re grown men.
“We’re mentally strong enough, capable enough to get back on the field and play ball. But it’d probably much easier with the 70,000 people behind us rather than opposing us.”
The Packers tight end caught four passes for 26 yards, contributing to a Green Bay passing attack that actually outgained Atlanta 312 to 256. But Bijan Robinson outrushed the Packers tenfold with 194 yards on the ground to Green Bay’s 17.
The Packers don’t have a clear solution in sight, with Josh Jacobs still on the NFL’s exempt list. It’s no surprise Falcons fans were the ones getting chants going during Thursday night’s game.
