Twitter reacts to Redskins signing Mark Sanchez
The Washington Redskins have moved quickly to bring in a veteran backup after Alex Smith suffered a gruesome leg injury on Sunday, and the move they made is one that is sure to create a lot of buzz.
In fact, it already has.
According to numerous reports, the Redskins are signing Mark Sanchez. Since the former first-round pick played with the Dallas Cowboys in 2016, ESPN’s Adam Schefter notes that Washington believes he will be able to get up to speed quickly with an upcoming game against his former team on a short week.
This is one of the main reasons Washington opted to sign Mark Sanchez as its backup QB. With the Redskins playing on Thanksgiving in Dallas, Sanchez will be a quick study. https://t.co/vQkxyJPkv4

Sanchez has appeared in just two games since 2016. The former New York Jets starter spent 2017 with the Chicago Bears, but he did not get on the field at all during the regular season. As you might expect, Twitter had a lot of fun with Washington’s decision to sign the man whose most noteworthy achievement in the NFL was “The Butt Fumble.”
And Mark Sanchez’s Redskins’ debut will come six years to the day of this…. pic.twitter.com/LX5jmtC3Dg

Washington signed Mark Sanchez. Smh. ‘Skins would have been better off with Mark Wilson, my former radio partner in Detroit. #teamsdontwannawin

Mark Sanchez is the only player in the history of the league whose performance was not enhanced by PEDs.

"People don't know that former Jets QB Mark Sanchez once fumbled off another man's butt on Thanksgiving. Sanchez is an example of someone who’s done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more."

Add Mark Sanchez to the growing list of QBs to get a job before Colin Kaepernick

I don't want to be mean or anything, but 2018 Colt McCoy and 2018 Mark Sanchez has to be among the worst QB corps of all time, right?

Mark Sanchez literally did not dress for a single game last year when Mike Glennon was the Bears' backup. https://t.co/UgS5aESP9w

There has already been talk about Washington’s search for a veteran backup being further proof that Colin Kaepernick has been blackballed by the NFL, and the signing of Sanchez will do nothing to dispel that notion.
