The Chicago Bears have had one of the best defenses in football this season, and they could be losing a key contributor for the remainder of the year. We know this because a sports memorabilia shop told us.
On Tuesday, Elite Icons Framing & Memorabilia in Chicago announced that Bears cornerback Bryce Callahan would be unable to attend his scheduled autograph signing after he broke a bone in his foot during Sunday’s 15-6 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Several NFL reporters later confirmed the news and provided some more details.
#Bears nickel CB Bryce Callahan suffered a broken bone in his foot in Sunday's win over the #Rams, sources say. Fifth metatarsal. His timeline is TBD but he'll likely be out a while. He was balling, so a tough one for Chicago.

The Bears rank third in the NFL in both yards allowed (309.9 per game) and scoring defense (19.0 points per game). While Callahan plays primarily in nickel packages, it’s always difficult to lose a key member of the rotation this late in the season.
After they allowed just six points against one of the best offenses in the NFL on Monday, the Bears are now getting more credit for being a legitimate contender in the NFC. Championship-caliber teams always have good depth, and Chicago’s will be tested now that Callahan is out.
