Vic Fangio reportedly makes decision about his coaching future
Vic Fangio reportedly has made a decision about his coaching future.
Fangio was fired in January as the head coach of the Denver Broncos. The 63-year-old would have been a top defensive coordinator candidate, but he apparently has decided against coaching in the 2022 season.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter says it looks like Fangio will take the season off and wait until next year, when he will likely be a coveted defensive coordinator.
Former Broncos’ HC Vic Fangio received, and decided against, multiple offers to become a defensive coordinator for the 2022 season, per league sources. Fangio now is likely to take off this season before returning next year as the most coveted available defensive coordinator.

Fangio has been coaching since 1979, so maybe a season off after three as Denver’s head coach is something he could use to recharge. The Broncos went 19-30 in his three seasons.
During his coaching career, his defenses (as a head coach or defensive coordinator) have ranked in the top three in the league in points allowed six times.
