Video appears to show Marshawn Lynch disrespecting moms at football camp

Marshawn Lynch

Former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch had some issues at his football camp last week that led to some parents taking their kids and leaving, and footage that surfaced on Wednesday shows some of the confrontation that took place.

Lynch was hosting his “Lynch’s Fam 1st Family” camp in the Seattle area on July 28 when some women who had children taking part in the camp became upset with the way things were being run, according to a report from TMZ. The children participating in the camp were as young as 9 years old, and apparently some parents took exception to the level of physicality and the way Lynch was speaking to their kids. One mother, Stephanie Siva, told TMZ that Lynch swore at the kids and made some of them cry.

When Siva objected to the way things were being run, Lynch ran up into the bleachers to speak with her and some other parents. A video obtained by TMZ shows Lynch asking one of the mothers if “there’s a man here with you.” When the woman asked why that matters, Lynch said he would prefer to speak to a man about what was going on. He then spoke with the parents about how there are consequences if the kids don’t do what is asked of them and admitted to telling at least one child to “get the f— out of my drill.”

After some of the parents took their kids and left, Lynch grabbed a microphone and addressed the situation.

“I wanted to say I apologize to the young lady that took off,” Lynch said. “She’s probably ran off already. But, that is no excuse for what I got going on on this field.

“When they on this field, they belong to me. But, as soon as I’m done, you can have them back. And you can do what you going to do.”

It’s hard to tell exactly what went on even with the videos, but Lynch saying he would prefer to speak with a man seemed uncalled for. We know from some of his antics during his playing days that Lynch has a temper, but it shouldn’t matter whether he is speaking to a child’s mother or father.
