Michael Strahan made headlines over the weekend for the way he stood during the national anthem, and it appears he has breathed more life into the controversy with his actions toward a reporter.
Strahan, who played in the NFL with the New York Giants from 1993-2007, has been an analyst for FOX since he retired. The NFL on FOX held its weekly pregame show at Naval Base San Diego on Sunday in recognition of Veterans Day. During a performance of the national anthem, all members of the FOX on-air crew stood with their hands over their hearts except for Strahan.
Some people accused Strahan of being disrespectful and wondered if he was trying to send some sort of political message. FOX reporter Jay Glazer defended Strahan in a lengthy social media post on Monday and said the Hall of Fame defensive end has tremendous respect for the military.
Strahan has not publicly addressed the criticism, but a Daily Mail reporter went to Strahan’s residence to try to get a comment. A video went viral on Tuesday that appeared to show Strahan grabbing the reporter’s phone and saying, “Don’t come to my house, man.”

The Daily Mail reports that Strahan threw the reporter’s phone into a nearby bush and then walked into his townhouse. The outlet also reported that FOX is not planning to discipline Strahan over the national anthem situation, though it is unclear if Strahan’s actions toward the reporter will change that.
Strahan is the son of a retired Army major. The 52-year-old shared a tribute to his father on social media Monday, which was Veterans Day.
