Video shows refs may have blown call on key Calvin Ridley touchdown

Calvin Ridley catches a pass in the end zone

Calvin Ridley may have been robbed of a touchdown during the Jacksonville Jaguars’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night.

The Jaguars were trailing 23-17 when Ridley caught a pass from Trevor Lawrence in the back of the end zone. Ridley bobbled the ball, and the nearest official ruled that the star receiver did not gain complete control before going out of bounds.

Replays appeared to show that Ridley had control with his knee inbounds before any part of his body touched out of bounds. You can see several angles below:

NBC rules analyst Terry McAulay felt Ridley was “clearly inbounds.” Most viewers agreed, but the call on the field was upheld.

Jacksonville went on to turn the ball over on downs. They were down 16 at the time, so a touchdown and a 2-point conversion could have made it a one-score game.

The Jaguars cost themselves the game with plenty of critical mistakes, but they will probably want an explanation from the NFL on why the Ridley call was not overturned.
