Trevor Lawrence commits huge blunder for Jaguars before halftime

Trevor Lawrence ready to take a snap

What in the world was Trevor Lawrence thinking? That’s probably what Doug Pederson was wondering just before halftime of his Jacksonville Jaguars’ Week 15 “Sunday Night Football” game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Jags were down 10-0 to the Ravens but got the ball back with just over a minute left in the first half. They moved the ball from their 41 to the Baltimore 41 with no timeouts and 30 seconds left in the second quarter.

Lawrence threw a beautiful pass down the left sideline to Marvin Jones Jr. down to the five yard line with the clock running. Rather than spike the ball, Lawrence ran a play as the ball was snapped with 11 seconds left. The problem is Lawrence made a huge miscalculation and threw to Calvin Ridley, who was tackled inbounds after a gain of one yard. The clock then ran out before the Jags had a chance to spike the ball to set up a field goal attempt.

That was the latest mistake in a half filled with errors.

The Jags missed two field goal attempts, and then Lawrence blew an easy chance for three points right before halftime. That was at least nine points the Jags should have had. Instead, they went into halftime down 10-0 in a game they need to win to maintain a lead in the AFC South.
