Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Wade Phillips is one tough cookie — or as he might put it, one tough slab of meat.
Phillips posted an update about his health to Twitter on Wednesday, saying that he only suffered one fractured rib in Sunday’s sideline collision and chose some interesting GIF accompaniment to go along with the update.
Thanks for all the kind words-I was lucky only fractured 1 rib(have 23 more good ones) pic.twitter.com/4dly46hMVb

The 69-year-old Phillips was hurt in a frightening collision with running back Melvin Gordon in the second quarter of the Broncos’ 27-19 victory over the San Diego Chargers on Sunday (video here). Though he had to be stretchered off and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, Phillips returned to work the very next day and was upbeat about the whole situation.
Always a funny man that Mr. Phillips is, and it’s great to see that he was lucky enough to walk away from the collision with only minimal injury.
