Warren Sapp says he stiffed waitress for calling him and his friends ‘boys’
Warren Sapp did, in fact, leave a server a $0 tip on a $69 bill at a sports bar on Tuesday afternoon. However, the Hall of Famer claims he and his friends had a legitimate reason for stiffing the Upper Deck Ale and Sports Grille waitress. As LB speculated, Sapp says the waitress referred to his group as “boys.”
The receipt, which was tweeted by Darren Rovell, included a message that read “Boys Don’t Tip!” Sapp defended himself on Wednesday morning.
@Alex_Iwanowicz She kept calling us boys so the tip Fit!

It sounds like Sapp left no tip because the service was bad and he felt he had been disrespected. We would have to hear from someone who was there to know if stiffing the waitress was appropriate, because there are obviously ways to refer to a group of men as “boys” without meaning it in an offensive or racist way.
The waitress could have said something like, “What are you boys drinking?” without intending to be racist. Again, we weren’t there so we don’t know. Obviously Sapp felt he was a victim.
