Wes Welker hints that the Patriots should give him a new contract for his birthday
Today is Wes Welker’s 31st birthday. If things remain the way they are heading into next season, 2012 should be a good year for Welker. If my worst case scenario from age 31 to 32 was making a cool $9.5 million, I would be one happy man. Like everyone else in the NFL, however, Wes wants long-term financial security. He may wind up holding out of Patriots training camp because of it (much to the chagrin of a certain former Patriots linebacker), or New England could just give Welker the birthday present he essentially asked them for on Twitter Tuesday afternoon.
Guess what would be the perfect Birthday gift? :)RT @Patriots: Happy Birthday to @WesWelker!

Well played, sir. While I doubt Robert Kraft is the person in charge of the Patriots official Twitter account, perhaps someone will pass that memo along to him.
