The reinstatement of Martavis Bryant had a very positive effect on the Steelers.
Not only is Pittsburgh getting a talented wide receiver back in full, but having Bryant also gave them the confidence to trade another wide receiver.
On Saturday, the Steelers reportedly dealt Sammie Coates and a 2019 7th-round pick to the Cleveland Browns. ESPN’s Adam Schefter says they are receiving a 2018 sixth-round pick in return.
Coates’ roster spot seemed to be in jeopardy the moment Pittsburgh drafted JuJu Smith-Schuster out of USC. Starting training camp late because of a knee scope didn’t help his case, and he eventually lost his spot to Justin Hunter.
Coates had 435 yards and two touchdowns last season.
