Xavien Howard arrested for alleged domestic violence

Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard was arrested over the weekend for an alleged incident involving domestic violence.

Howard was arrested for domestic battery following an alleged incident with his fiancee in Davie, Fla., ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe reports. The 26-year-old is accused of grabbing the woman by the arms and pushing her up against a mirrored glass wall after a verbal altercation turned physical. Howard’s fiancee told police she fell on the floor and landed on Howard’s medical assistance crutch, and officers observed visible scratches and redness on her body.

Police said the incident began over a purse purchase that was not disclosed.

Howard, Miami’s second-round pick in the 2016 draft, appeared in just five games this season before being shut down with a knee injury. He made his first Pro Bowl in 2018 and was named a Second-team All-Pro.

The Dolphins already waived one player this year who faced disturbing domestic violence allegations, and it remains to be seen what they will do with Howard. The team is heavily invested in Howard after signing him to a massive five-year, $76 million contract extension last offseason.
