The Dallas Cowboys received quite a scare when Zack Martin went down with an injury during Saturday’s preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals, but it sounds like the All-Pro offensive lineman avoided anything major.
David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports that Martin received “encouraging” news after undergoing an MRI and could be ready to play when the Cowboys open their season on Sept. 9.
Cowboys have received results of Zack Martin’s MRI & it’s encouraging. Source said there’s no significant injury to left knee & he could be ready for opener against Carolina on Sept. 9.

Martin was on the receiving end of a low hit from Bengals defender Dre Kirkpatrick on a running play, so there was some concern he suffered a significant knee injury.
Martin, who received a record extension from the Cowboys in June, has never missed a start in his four-year NFL career. He has also been selected to the Pro Bowl in each of those seasons. It goes without saying that he is critical to Dallas’ success.
