Bubba Watson blows up on caddie Ted Scott on way to triple bogey
Bubba Watson hit consecutive poor shots that cost him an excellent chance at winning the Travelers Championship on Sunday, and he seemed to blame caddie Ted Scott for his mistakes.
Watson entered the par-3 16th with the lead, but he triple-bogeyed the hole to send himself three spots down the leaderboard. Watson hit into the water on his first shot and took a penalty and drop.
“Water, it’s in the water, that club,” Watson barked at caddie Ted Scott.
Watson then overshot the green on his drop and needed three putts to hole out.
“That’s the right yardage?!” Watson said after hitting past the green, per Eye on Golf.
And then Watson was pretty upset after missing a long double-bogey putt.
“There’s just no reason for me to show up,” he seemed to say after missing the putt.
Golf Channel’s Jason Sobel points out that in the past, Watson has acknowledged being rough on his caddie.
Bubba Watson after 2010 Travelers win: "My caddie stayed with me for four years even though I kept being mad and pissy on the golf course."

Watson actually played No. 16 well in his previous three rounds. He shot par on the hole twice and recorded a birdie once. But his triple bogey on Sunday sent him down the leaderboard. He finished even par for the round and in fourth place, two strokes behind the leaders. Watson needs to chill out and take a ride in his hovercraft or something.
UPDATE: Watson later addressed what happened on 16.
Picked the wrong club on the 16th hole. But it was still a great week. Thanks to the fans & Travelers for another great tourney!
