Bubba Watson cries during interview at The Masters (Video)
The Masters is the only tournament of its kind in golf. It can turn typically fun-loving grown men into mere mortals, as Bubba Watson showed us during his interview on Tuesday.
Watson, who is the defending champion at Augusta National after winning his first major there last year, was asked what some of the things were that he did with his first Green Jacket when he brought it home. Considering this is a guy who owns a hovercraft, bought this car and makes hilarious music videos with his golf buddies, reporters probably expected to hear some funny stories. Instead, Watson got extremely emotional and broke down crying.
Rather than mess around with the Green Jacket and risk offending the PGA, Watson says the only thing he did with it is wrap his son Caleb up in it. That was apparently a very vivid and touching memory for Watson, as he struggled for about a minute to compose himself after sharing it. Many have been criticizing Bubba for crying during an interview days before the tournament even starts, but my guess is he won’t be the last grown man to shed a tear before Sunday afternoon comes along.
