The US Open was suspended on Sunday due to the weather at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa., and fans were loving the programming replacement decision by NBC.
After the final round was suspended due to the rain and lightning in the area, NBC began to play the 2008 US Open starting with the 13th hole of the final round. Tiger Woods wound up beating Rocco Mediate for the title in that event, which was notable for many reasons. Woods was battling a knee injury that caused him to miss the rest of the season. But he battled through it to win following a playoff.
Fans thought that NBC’s backup programming choice was excellent.
going straight to 13 at Torrey Pines for Tiger Woods' Saturday charge in 2008 is one of the better broadcasting moves i've ever seen

The U.S Open is gonna get back from rain delay and lose half their viewers to people going to YouTube to finish watching Tiger Woods in 2008

I wonder if watching Tiger win from almost 20 years ago will out rate this years broadcast?

Lets be honest, isn't watching old school Tiger Woods highlights what most dads wanted to do today anyway?

Happy Father's Day to all the dads who got their wish. And all the other ones too 😎 pic.twitter.com/sCuM4BW3eI
Woods had won his 14th major with that US Open victory. Nobody could have ever predicted what would come next. Tiger missed the rest of the year due to knee surgery before returning in 2009. He did not win a major in 2009, and then his cheating scandal became public later in the year. Once his extramarital affairs were exposed, his career went downhill. He did not win another major until 2019, which is his 15th and last major.
