Francesco Molinari made ridiculous hole-in-one to make cut at US Open

Francesco Molinari slumped over

Francesco Molinari delivered one of the most clutch holes-in-one of all time.

Molinari was tied for 93rd at seven over par entering his final hole of the second round of the US Open at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina on Friday. Molinari needed a hole-in-one in order to make the cut at the major, and he somehow got it.

The Italian golfer broke out his 7 iron on the 194-yard par-3 9th hole. He stroked the ball down to the green, got a great bounce, and the ball rolled right into the hole for an astonishing ace.

Molinari was stunned and his body slumped over in disbelief.

The ace brought Molinari to five over, which had him tied for 57th and just good enough to make the cut. He shot a 3-over 73 in the first round and finished it off with his 2-over 72 on Friday to make the weekend.

Unbelievably, Molinari was the second golfer to have a hole-in-one on the 9th hole. Sepp Straka also did it earlier in the day.
