The perfect actor is set to play John Daly in TV series
Iconic golfer John Daly is set to be immortalized on the small screen soon. The actor slated to play Daly appears to be a hand-in-glove fit.
Hollywood star Kevin James is reportedly playing Daly in an upcoming golf-centered show being produced by Village Roadshow. The project will be a limited series “based on the life” of Daly, according to Deadline’s Justin Kroll.
Daly has racked up five PGA Tour titles and two major wins throughout his decades-long career. But he’s arguably best known for his unconventional and eccentric personality on and off the fairway. Daly’s colorful course outfits, insanely powerful driving ability, and unbelievably bad diet are all the stuff of legend.
James and Daly share more in common than just a similar body type. The “King of Queens” star has made a name for himself by often playing imperfect yet lovable protagonists. Few actors could fill Daly’s shoes in front of the camera quite like James potentially could.
James has also been taking on more sports roles of late. The 59-year-old recently portrayed Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton in “Home Team,” a 2022 movie that premiered on Netflix. James also played a fictional NASCAR crew chief in the Netflix series “The Crew” released in 2021.
