Keegan Bradley apologizes for spitting during Northern Trust Open
Those of you who watched the Northern Trust Open over the weekend were treated to a Major-like atmosphere. Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley both hit long putts on the 18th hole to force a three-way playoff with Bill Haas, who won the event by sinking a 45-foot putt on the second playoff hole. Does it get any better than that?
Despite the excitement, Bradley still found himself having to make an apology after the tournament ended. Keegan has a habit of spitting before lining a shot up, and apparently this offended some people in the golf world. He apologized on Monday.
“Id like to apologize for my spitting,” Bradley tweeted. “It’s like a reflex, I don’t even know I’m doing it, but it’s a longtime habit I’ve got to try to conquer.”
I love golf, but these are the types of non-stories that annoy me when it comes to the “gentleman’s game.” As the Golf Channel pointed out, Pat Perez and Dustin Johnson were also caught spitting during the final round on Sunday. The horror!
It’s not as though Bradley was hocking up lung biscuits in frustration. He obviously has a habit — albeit one that people may not enjoy looking at. There are much worse things in life than a guy spitting on a golf course.
