The future of LIV Golf was up in the air after the Saudi Public Investment Fund pulled its funding after four years and billions of dollars invested into the league.

On Wednesday, however, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil announced that an investor has now emerged to keep the league going in 2027 and beyond.

“LIV Golf has an agreement in place with a lead investor, signed by the investor and approved by the board, to anchor the transaction and play a key role in supporting the path forward for the league’s next era, driven by and for the players,” O’Neil said at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

BREAKING NEWS: LIV Golf lands "lead" investor, will make players majority owners.

Financial specifics and the name of the investor were not revealed, although O’Neil said he anticipates the league going on in “2028, 2029 and 2030.”

Some star golfers were already thinking about the future if LIV shut down, including Bryson DeChambeau.

As part of the new plan, the league aims to host 10 events, five internationally and five in the US, with the international sites as Australia, South Africa, England, Hong Kong and Mexico.

LIV Golf players are now identified as major equity holders as part of the new investment plan.

LIV 2.0 is happening.

– deal with “major” investor expected to close in September
– 10 team events in 2027 — 5 in U.S. and 5 worldwide
– players are major equity holders, have their NIL rights again and are allowed to play on other tours if eligible/invited

LIV Golf hopes to finalize the new deal in September.
