Rory McIlroy was out for revenge against Bryson DeChambeau in the final round of the Masters on Sunday, and an old video that went viral was a great reminder of the history between the two.
DeChambeau won the 2024 U.S. Open after McIlroy had a complete meltdown. McIlroy was the 54-hole leader and was on fire early in his final round, but he choked the tournament away with two brutal missed putts in the final three holes.
Months later, McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler faced DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in a match at Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev. During a warmup session for the event, McIlroy spoke about how he was hoping to get even with DeChambeau “for what he did to me at the U.S. Open.”

DeChambeau responded by roasting McIlroy with an incredible zinger.
“To be fair, you kind of did it to yourself,” DeChambeau quipped.

That clip went viral again leading up to the final round of the Masters. McIlroy was the leader after 54 holes with a score of 12-under. DeChambeau was 10-under and in the final pairing with McIlroy at Augusta National Golf Club.
With McIlroy having a two-shot lead, another loss to DeChambeau in a major would be devastating.
