Scottie Scheffler has done it again. The world. No. 1 won his second FedEx Cup title over the span of three years, as he topped the field in the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga., on Sunday.
On top of his win, Scheffler got a congratulatory message from Tiger Woods.
“Three wins, five runner-ups and finishing the season No. 1. Those are some numbers to be proud of. Incredible consistency all season long. Congrats on a historic season, Scottie,” Woods wrote on X.
Scheffler arguably was not the best player in the recently concluded season, as he entered the playoffs with just a win.
But he was a picture of consistency, finishing the campaign with 19 top-25s, 13 top-10s, and five runner-up finishes. He added two wins to his tally during the playoffs, as he also won the FedEx St. Jude Championship two weeks ago.
At East Lake, Scheffler bested the field by three strokes with a 13-under 264 score. Viktor Hovland placed second (13-under 267), while Ryan Gerard was third (12-under-268).
That is not to mention the riches that come with his high finishes. For one, his victory on Sunday had Scheffler laughing his way to the bank with a $10 million check, enough to surpass Woods’ record for the PGA Tour’s career on-course earnings. Scheffler now has pocketed $130.4 million in PGA Tour winnings, according to Mark Schlabach of ESPN.
