Tiger Woods praises Francesco Molinari for ‘beautiful’ play

Francesco Molinari received some praise from Tiger Woods upon winning his first career major.

Molinari captured the Claret Jug by winning The Open Championship on Sunday with a score of -8 for the tournament. He played his final round with Tiger, who complimented Molinari for his “beautiful” play.

“It’s not easy,” Tiger said of winning The Open Championship after completing his final round. “It takes every facet of the game working. And on top of that you have to get a couple of bounces. This links golf is something else. You’re going to get some quirky bounces, and hopefully they go your way for the week.

“But I played with Francesco today … the way (he) played today was beautiful. He hit a couple off shots here and there, but his short game was on point. He hit a lot of little beautiful pitches too to basically kick-ins,” said Woods.

Molinari made par on his first 13 holes. He finished his final round with a two under 69 and won the tournament by two strokes. Over his final two rounds, Molinari amazingly did not shoot less than par on any hole. Yup, he sure played some beautiful golf as Tiger said.
