John Tavares broke the hearts of New York Islanders fans when he announced on Sunday that he has agreed to a deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but all he needed to do was share a photo on social media to explain the decision.
Tavares grew up in the Toronto area and was a Maple Leafs fan from a young age. He always dreamed of playing for his hometown team, and he has evidence.

While that probably won’t make Islanders fans feel any better, it does help put the decision into perspective. Perhaps the thank you he issued to Islanders fans will help.
Tavares scored over 30 goals for the fourth time in his career last season, and his presence in Toronto should make the Maple Leafs a Stanley Cup contender.
