Penguins fans taunt Flyers with 16,000 chant
The Philadelphia Flyers may have beaten the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday, but Penguins fans were still able to play the ultimate trump card.
Sunday marked the 16,000th day since the Flyers last won a Stanley Cup. Fans were quick to use that as a taunt on social media and also at the game. Flyers reporter Sam Carchidi says Penguins fans were using the “16,000” chant.

The Flyers have won two Stanley Cups in franchise history — they came in back-to-back seasons in 1974 and 1975. In ’75, they beat the Buffalo Sabres in six games, clinching the series on May 27.
The Pens have won five since that time, including back-to-back titles in 2016 and 2017. They have the advantage of more overall titles and recent ones as well. It’s tough for Flyers fans to dispute that.
