ESPN veteran facing uncertain future with network

One of ESPN’s longest-tenured personalities appears to be facing an uncertain future with the network.

ESPN suggested that Linda Cohn may not be guaranteed a role at the network moving forward. Cohn has been with ESPN since 1992, and was previously a regular co-anchor of the network’s Los Angeles-based “SportsCenter,” but has not been seen on the air since that iteration of the show ended in May.

“That is still being determined, but we should know soon,” an ESPN spokesperson told Richard Deitsch of The Athletic regarding Cohn’s future.

Cohn remains under contract at ESPN. Her primary role with the network had been hosting “SportsCenter L.A.,” typically alongside Stan Verrett. Verrett has already confirmed that he plans to leave the network when his contract expires later this year.

It is certainly possible that Cohn will retain a role at ESPN even if “SportsCenter” is no longer on her list of duties. She has long been associated with the network’s NHL coverage, which will continue. She may have to relocate to Bristol, Ct. in order to do it, however.

ESPN has been making a lot of changes lately, some of them controversial. If Cohn were to depart, it would be another significant departure for someone closely affiliated with the network.
