Scott Van Pelt takes sly shot at Colin Cowherd
FS1’s Colin Cowherd has been taking it on the chin in recent months, drawing ire from the likes of LeBron James, JJ Redick, and Tyreek Hill. Now he finds himself on the receiving end of a shot from ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt.
Earlier this week, Cowherd offered up an odd criticism of Reddick for wearing a backwards hat on the Mind the Game Podcast with James, suggesting it was unprofessional and immature.
“I didn’t hear a word LeBron said, I couldn’t stop staring at the hat,” Cowherd said. “JJ Redick’s going for NBA head coaching jobs, he looks like a guy that’s gonna move my couch.”
During Van Pelt’s edition of SportsCenter on Thursday night, a clip showed Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd wearing a backwards hat at his postgame press conference. Van Pelt took the opportunity to slight Cowherd, who is apparently incapable of moving his own couch.
"Oh, he's got his hat on backward. That's a problem for some folks in our business. Not for me, it's fine." – Scott Van Pelt on SportsCenter with a subtle jab at FS1's Colin Cowherd while discussing Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd in his post-game press conference. pic.twitter.com/KsqmGHCoz3

Get ’em!
Cowherd is no stranger to making absurd and intentionally judgmental comments. He’s embraced the role of shock-jock from Day 1 and never hesitates to say things if he believes they will create a viral reaction. Oftentimes, Cowherd’s comments are hypocritical in nature. Back in 2012, he called wrestling fans “lonely, pathetic booger eaters.” Six years after that criticism, Cowherd sat front row at a WWE Smackdown live event and even sought out selfies with some of the wrestlers.
Cowherd also later admitted that he, himself, ate boogers as a child.
Given Cowherd’s track record, there’s probably a photo of him out there in the universe wearing a backwards hat. If only Van Pelt could find it.
