War Machine, whose real name is Jonathan Koppenhaver, has finally given some of his side of the story regarding what took place when he assaulted Christy Mack and another man back in August. Although, War Machine’s comments weren’t exactly on the record. TMZ has obtained a copy of a letter the MMA fighter sent to a friend from jail.
War Machine wrote in the letter that he was “ambushed” by Mack and her friend Corey Thomas when he entered the porn star’s home. He said that Mack had been telling him just two days prior to “hurry up and get a ring.”
“I dunno if they heard me come into the house or what but dude straight ambushed me as soon as I entered the bedroom,” he wrote. “I can’t get into all the details but that s— was self-defense 100%!”

Shortly after the incident took place, War Machine’s brother claimed Koppenhaver found Mack having sex with another man and that Mack grabbed a knife when War Machine and Thomas got into an altercation. War Machine said in the letter that Mack and Thomas were not in bed together. He also said if the altercation took place in Texas he would have been within his rights to shoot them both.
“Even if I wasn’t ambushed they still would have got what they deserved!” War Machine said. “In Texas you could have shot them both and got off with that “passion crime” s—. I can only speculate on (how I would have reacted) if I would have only caught them in bed, but that don’t even matter cuz dude jumped me!”

As TMZ noted, you can commit a crime of passion in any state and argue that your actions weren’t premeditated, but that doesn’t mean you can shoot and kill someone and avoid jail time.
War Machine’s attorney has maintained that he did nothing illegal, while the fighter’s brother says he is insane and needs serious psychiatric help.
