Brandi Chastain was enshrined in the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame on Monday, and a day that should have been all about honoring one of the most important figures in US soccer history was overshadowed by how ridiculous her plaque looks.
Somehow, this is the plaque that the BASHOF came up with:

Chastain tried not to sound ungrateful, but even she couldn’t help but acknowledge how ridiculous the plaque looks.
“It’s not the most flattering,” she said during the enshrinement ceremony, per Daniel Brown of the San Jose Mercury News. “But it’s nice.”
Fortunately, it sounds as though the BASHOF has heard the outrage and is going to create a new plaque for Chastain.

As you might expect, Twitter was more than happy to call attention to the hideous plaque, with many people noting that it makes Chastain look like a middle aged man.

Chastain’s plaque has to be the most embarrassing thing we’ve seen since the Red Sox botched David Ortiz’s bobblehead doll. It will be interesting to see how the new one comes out.
