Watch: Cristiano Ronaldo grabs hat trick with late free kick
Cristiano Ronaldo provided a signature moment in Portugal’s World Cup opener against Spain.
In one of the marquee games of the tournament between two potential contenders, Ronaldo had scored twice in the first half to put Portugal ahead 2-1. Spain fought back in the second half, however, jumping ahead 3-2, a score that held for much of the half.
Ronaldo, however, got a free kick opportunity in the 88th minute, and he did not disappoint, clinching a hat trick and securing a point for Portugal in the process.
